After learning to sing "Ain't Gonna Let Nobody Turn Me Around" with Fry's 5th grade and discussing its popularity during the Civil Rights movement, we are totally having a blast delving deeper into the musical richness of the song: the minor scale. Like a painter's color palette is polka-dotted with his choice colors for his portrait, so is a musical scale a choice selection of pitches from which a song is arises. From the street protests to the lab table, we are taking this catchy melody's key and learning our way around it- its tensions, its releases, its resting points, and why it carries the musical "color" or "attitude" that it does. #musicisrelevant
